After a hotly contested trial, Mr. Jayko won his job back and the manager responsible for retaliation against Mr. Jayko lost his bid to become Director of Enforcement for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

As Senior Science Advisor at the EPA, William Marcus was fired when he documented that a policy approved by the Office of Drinking Water could lead to an increase in cancer. His case set a national precedent when he became the first EPA employee to obtain protection under environmental whistleblower statutes.

Marrita Murphy challenged the unfair taxation of compensation and damages awarded to illegally fired whistleblowers. Although she was initially successful, the court of appeals buckled under pressure from the government and reversed its decision. The campaign to end unfair taxation continues.
