Honesty In The Workplace
whitehurst-cspan2As a whistleblower who was simply trying to do my job, I have endured backlash and retaliation from those who wish to hide the truth and cover up fraud. Even when the FBI told me that I had no rights, the National Whistleblowers Center (NWC) stood by me and supported my case.  As a result of the NWC's help, my case secured whistleblower protections for all FBI employees.  Those hard won protections are now in jeopardy of disappearing as a result of a bill pending in the Senate (S. 372). The NWC, a tireless advocate for whistleblowers like myself, is working hard to help prevent this dangerous rollback of protections and they need your help.

Thanks to generous donations from supporters, this past year the National Whistleblowers Center was able to:
  • Provide whistleblowers with competent legal representation
  • Train whistleblowers, advocates, and lawmakers in seminars around the world
  • Provide breaking news and informative educational materials on the NWC website
  • Amplify our message and allow public input through the creation of NWC Facebook and Twitter pages
  • Achieve strong whistleblower protections for federal contractors who accept stimulus money
  • Advise and educate lawmakers drafting the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act
Being a whistleblower is not as glamorous as it may seem. A few whistleblowers may be interviewed on television or radio or have their story written up in the New York Times, but the reality for the overwhelming majority of whistleblowers is that our professional and personal lives are destroyed. Throughout this year, and for many past years, the National Whistleblowers Center has been protecting truth-tellers like me and trying to help us restore our lives. Now it is our turn to return the favor and help the NWC.

To maintain its complete independence, the NWC accepts no corporate or government funding. The NWC relies on generous donations of members like you to advocate on behalf of whistleblower rights and protections. A donation of $25, $50, $100, or any amount you can give will go a long way in supplementing the NWC's small operating budget.

The NWC guided me through on my mission to expose the truth. Now they need your help to continue to advocate on behalf of employees around the country. Please take this moment to show your support by making a generous donation of any amount to the National Whistleblowers Center.  You can donate online now or mail a check to 3238 P Street, NW, Washington, DC 20007.  Federal employees can donate through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) using number 10222.   All donations are tax deductable.

With your donation the NWC can continue its courageous work! Thanks again for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Frederic Whitehurst

P.S. Please help me spread the word about the great work of the NWC by forwarding this letter to your friends that share a common concern about having the right to speak the truth in the workplace.
