Major Tax Fraud Whistleblower in Prison

TAKE ACTION!

Bradley Birkenfeld, the former international banker who blew whistle on the largest tax fraud in U.S. history is scheduled to go to jail on January 8, 2010.  Mr. Birkenfeld is responsible for the recovery of over $1 Billion in lost U.S. revenue for the U.S. Taxpayers.  Leading public interest groups have strongly condemned this sentence and have urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) to reconsider its action. Mr. Birkenfeld was recently named Tax Analysts inaugural annual "Person of the Year." Article in New York Daily News asserts that Mr. Birkenfeld should be given a "statute on Wall Street, not a prison sentence."

Additionally, attorneys for Mr. Birkenfeld have carefully evaluated the arguments used by the DOJ to justify the imprisonment and found them not to be accurate. See Letter to Holder below.

The National Whistleblowers Center is urging all Americans to contact U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and their representatives in Congress to request an immediate reconsideration of the decision to imprison Mr. Birkenfeld.

Bradley Birkenfeld was featured on CBS's 60 Minutes January 3, 2010. Watch the story below:
