Birkenfeld Christmas Clemency Plea |
Washington, D.C. December 23, 2010. Supporters of Bradley Birkenfeld are asking that he be granted executive clemency and released from prison on Christmas day. The National Whistleblower Center is asking supporters to contact the President and the Attorney General to arrange for Mr. Birkenfeld to be home with his family on Christmas Day.
Executive Director of the NWC Stephen M. Kohn stated, "Birkenfeld's gift
to the taxpayers was billions of dollars when he stood alone and
courageously exposed UBS's $20 billion tax fraud. The gift given to him
in exchange was a long prison sentence, which he has already served
nearly one year behind bars. No one whom Obama may grant clemency has
contributed so much to the public interest, but has been punished so
severely."
