Roadmap for Change

The National Whistleblowers Center has launched a new legislative initiative.  Our goal is to pass a national whistleblower protection act that protects all employees, both in the government and in the private sector.

Below are links that illustrate the National Whistleblowers Center’s and President-Elect Obama’s commitment to oversight and accountability through stronger protections for workers who report waste, fraud, and abuse.

Whistleblowers are the only way that the American people will discover the truth. This was highlighted by the recent financial scandals and multi-billion dollar bail out legislation.  Whistleblowers are responsible for recovering billions of taxpayer dollars stolen by fraudulent government contractors.  Reports from concerned Americans are also essential to exposing health, safety and environmental threats.

If you would like to help, please sign the petition urging Congress to pass a national whistleblower protection law.

The National Whistleblowers Center’s Policy Paper details the contributions whistleblowers make to society and the policy recommendations necessary to ensure that all Americans are protected.

The NWC's model legislation for a national whistleblower protection act provides all whistleblowers with the right to federal court proceedings, a trial by jury, and reasonable damages.

President-Elect Obama pledged his support to whistleblowers in the NWC survey . In this excerpt from President-Elect's ethics agenda on his website, he highlights the important role whistleblowers play in ensuring ethical government.

Please help us pass this crucial legislation by signing the petition.
