Dr. Jacob Young
Dr. Jacob Young, who has studied whistleblowing systems since 2013, is currently acting as the Senior Advisor on Cybersecurity for the National Whistleblower Center. Dr. Young is an assistant professor of management information systems and the director of the Center for Cybersecurity at Bradley University.
In his role with the National Whistleblower Center, Dr. Young advises on ways that NWC can educate and protect whistleblowers using cybersecurity best practices as well as how government and corporate entities can enhance the confidentiality and anonymity provided to whistleblowers through strengthened cybersecurity.
As director of the Bradley University Center for Cybersecurity, Dr. Young is managing and coordinating a multidisciplinary research working group focused on protecting whistleblowers from retaliation. The team’s findings will inform legislation and practice through the National Whistleblower Center. Through these activities, Dr. Young will collaborate with NWC on research, curriculum development, and education on whistleblower protections and incentives, including in the areas of law, accounting, management, and ethics.
Dr. Young earned his doctorate from Louisiana Tech University and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Henderson State University. He focuses his research on privacy, security, and anonymity issues related to information systems. His work has been presented at national and regional conferences and published in academic journals, such as the AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction and the DePaul Business & Commercial Law Journal.
