Bradley Birkenfeld

Photo courtesy of www.whistleblowers.orgBradley Birkenfeld blew the whistle on UBS, Switzerland's largest bank. His disclosure and cooperation with U.S. authorities provided inside information into the bank's conduct and began the dismantling of the historic secrecy of Swiss banks. Mr. Birkenfeld's disclosure directly led to a ground-breaking legal settlement in which UBS agreed to pay $780 million in fines, and UBS and the Swiss Government have turned over the names of thousands of Americans suspected of illegal offshore banking.

Lieutenant Colonel Darrel Vandeveld
vandeveldphotoDarrel Vandeveld is Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps.  Since the September 2001 attacks, he has served in Bosnia, Africa, Iraq and Afghanistan, and has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards. From May 2007 to September 2007 he served active duty as a prosecutor at the Office of Military Commissions in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Lt. Col. Vandeveld resigned from his post at Guantanamo after concluding that he could not ethically or legally prosecute the case of detainee Mohammad Jawad.

Bunnatine Greenhouse

bunny_greenhouseBunnatine Greenhouse stood alone in opposing the approval of a highly improper muti-billion dollar no bid contract to Halliburton for the reconstruction of Iraq. In retaliation for her courage she was removed from her position as the highest-ranking civilian contracting official at the Army Corps of Engineers. Her case continues.

turnercover__2_After twenty years as a FBI Special Agent, Jane Turner led efforts to force the FBI to provide protection for child sex crime victims on the North Dakota Indian Reservations.  In retaliation for exposing FBI failures within its child crime program, Turner was removed from her position.  Her whistleblower case is still pending.  Available to speak

Bassem Youssef

bassem_youssefSince September 11, 2001, FBI counterterrorism expert Bassem Youssef  has fought within the FBI to end discrimination against Arab Americans and to protect the American people from another terrorist attack.  The DOJ’s Office of Professional Responsibility concluded that the FBI illegally retaliated against Mr. Youssef for making whistleblower disclosures.

fred_whitehurst_on_cspan2America’s first successful FBI whistleblower, Dr. Whitehurst, forced the president to execute an Executive Order ensuring whistleblower protection of all FBI agents who expose misconduct.  His case exposed forensic fraud in the FBI crime lab and subjected it to outside oversight for the first time.

Dr. Marsha Coleman-Adebayo
colman Dr. Coleman-Adebayo led the charge against racial discrimination and whistleblower retaliation at the Environmental Protection Agency.  Although she won a historic jury verdict, the EPA continued its retaliation.  Her case is ongoing.

Coleen Rowley

In May of 2002, Ms. Rowley brought several of the pre 9/11 lapses to light and testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee on some of the endemic problems facing the FBI and the intelligence community.  She was one of three whistleblowers chosen as Person of the Year by TIME magazine in 2002 (Coleen is standing in the center).
