AI Whistleblowers are facing severe retaliation for speaking out against safety and security failures which are threatening the privacy of Americans and compromising national security.
In June 2024, 13 OpenAI and Google DeepMind employees authored “A Right to Warn about Advanced Artificial Intelligence,” an open letter which raised serious issues about whistleblower retaliation, illegally restrictive non-disclosure agreements that muzzle AI whistleblowers, and the urgent need for government oversight into the AI sector.
The recently introduced AI Whistleblower Protection Act contains anti-retaliation provisions for AI Whistleblowers and clear reporting guidelines to the Department of Labor for reporting AI security vulnerabilities. This critical piece of legislation answers the urgent call for AI employee protections. Its passage will be a landmark turning point in increasing regulation, transparency, and oversight into the AI industry.
The time to act is now. Take action to call for the passage of this critical bill
