Fund the CFTC Whistleblower Program
A funding crisis has been plaguing the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Whistleblower Program for years, threatening to collapse the program. When Congress established the program, they placed a $100 million cap on the fund used to finance the CFTC Whistleblower Office and pay out whistleblower awards. As the program exploded in success, the capped fund became unable to pay out the large awards whistleblowers were entitled to while also being able to sustain the program’s operational expenses.
In 2021, 2024, and 2025, Congress has passed emergency stop-gap measures to save the program from collapse. These midnight-hour solutions are not sustainable. Since the program’s inception, the CFTC Whistleblower Program has recouped over $3.2 billion. We must ensure this program is financial stable. Join us in advocating for a permanent funding solution for the CFTC Whistleblower Program by urging your Representatives and Senators to pass the bipartisan CFTC Whistleblower Fund Improvement Act into law.
