Hi Friend,

This is the first newsletter of the National Whistleblower Center since my arrival as Executive Director in March. I cannot emphasize enough how thrilled I am to have been given the privilege of leading this esteemed organization.

For most of my career, I have been leading nonprofit advocacy campaigns for conservation and clean energy. A key lesson from that work is none of the big environmental challenges can be solved without confronting rampant corruption. The same can be said about many other social and economic problems.

The good news is that there is a proven formula for tackling corruption: empowering whistleblowers.

In the United States, we are fortunate to have the most powerful whistleblower laws in the world. Using these laws, whistleblowers have regularly made the difference in securing large-scale penalties and other sanctions against wrongdoers as well as policy reforms in government agencies and corporate suites.

The stories in this month’s newsletter highlight NWC’s three key priorities. Our “Million Message” grassroots campaign focuses on Advancing Whistleblower Policy, while our story about the recent Supreme Court victory showcases our work on Providing Legal Expertise to Whistleblowers. Finally, the story about Bunny Greenhouse, featured along with NWC President Michael Kohn on the CBS show Whistleblowers, is an example of our work on Celebrating Whistleblowers.

Please dig into this newsletter, subscribe to our social media channels, and visit our website to learn more and find out how you can get involved in this great cause.

Sincerely,

John Kostyack

Executive Director
