WASHINGTON, D.C. | July 23, 2024. On July 22, 2024, National Whistleblower Center sent a letter to Senator Blumenthal, commending him on his recently introduced legislation protecting federal whistleblowers from retaliation. The Congressional Whistleblower Protection Act would allow federal whistleblowers access to the federal court system, something NWC has long advocated for.

Federal whistleblowers are guaranteed the right to petition or provide information to Congress, but have not had proper protections in place preventing them from facing retaliation. According to Whistleblower Network News, federal whistleblowers have been denied access to the federal court system since 1983.

The enactment of the Congressional Whistleblower Protection Act would empower federal whistleblowers to come forward, strengthening our democracy and helping fight against corruption in our country.

Approaching National Whistleblower Day, National Whistleblower Center is enthusiastic to see government officials’ support in protecting whistleblowers, taking us one step closer in our fight against corruption.
