Former IRS Commissioners and Tax Experts Convene for Tax Whistleblower Panel

WASHINGTON, D.C. | July 29, 2021 — Tax experts will participate in a major U.S. whistleblower conference to discuss whistleblowing on tax fraud and tax whistleblower protections. The panel is part of the 2021 National Whistleblower Day celebration hosted by the National Whistleblower Center (NWC). The virtual conference takes place from July 28th to July 30th. Partner at Zerbe, Miller, Fingeret, Frank and Jadav, LLP and NWC Senior Policy Analyst, Dean Zerbe, will moderate. The panel airs at 3:30 PM EDT on Friday, July 30th, as part of the day’s programming, “NATIONAL WHISTLEBLOWER DAY! Recognizing Whistleblowers and Understanding Whistleblower Protections.”

The panel will provide an overview of the whistleblower protections and rewards afforded to tax whistleblowers by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the process of reporting tax fraud through the IRS’ safe channels. Experts will make recommendations regarding reforms to IRS whistleblower regulations that would improve the administration of the IRS whistleblower program, touching upon their combined experience assisting and working with tax whistleblowers.

Mr. Zerbe will be joined by Former IRS Acting Commissioner Steve Miller, whistleblower attorney and NWC Board Chairman Stephen M. Kohn, and former IRS Commissioner of the Small Business/Self Employed Division Eric Hylton.
