The National Whistleblower Center (NWC) advocates for strong international whistleblower programs and incentives year-round. NWC’s next stop will be the International Bar Association Anti-Corruption Conference on June 17-18 in London.

While in the United Kingdom, NWC will meet with anti-corruption lawyers from around the world to share best practices on representing international whistleblowers through anti-corruption laws such as the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML).

In this Sunday Read, we will the discuss the impact of the NWC’s presence at the Conference as well as its post-conference event, jointly hosted by WhistleblowersUK, “Managing Risks and Rewards: How Incentives Can Change the Whistleblower Landscape,” which will be held June 18 at the UK Parliament.

Bringing NWC’s Mission to the UK

As noted during NWC events and through recently enacted whistleblower programs like the UK’s Strengthened Reward Scheme, the UK is paving the way for international whistleblower reform.

During the 22nd Annual IBA Anti-Corruption Conference “The Role of the Global Financial System in the Fight Against Corruption,” presenters and advocates will explore:

  • The evolving role of financial institutions in detecting and preventing corruption
  • The importance of beneficial ownership transparency and the tracing of illicit funds in fighting financial crime
  • Private equity, hedge funds, crypto and the shadow banking challenge
  • Integrity compliance and its impact on the global financial system
  • Asset recovery and restitution: the challenges of returning illicit gains to victims and states
  • The geopolitics of anti-corruption: sanctions, trade, and influence, and
  • Strategies for defending corporations and individuals in global anti-corruption trials.

NWC Program Manager Jeana Lee will serve as part of NWC’s delegation to the Conference, along with Kohn, Kohn, and Colapinto LLP Associate Benjamin Calitri. The team will attend sessions, forge connections and serve as resources for those seeking greater guidance and insight on whistleblower laws such as the FCPA and AML.

“These critical topics signal a deliberate expansion of whistleblower advocacy beyond U.S. borders — building on the groundwork laid by organizations like the NWC, while placing greater focus on transnational crimes,” Lee said. “The best practice of whistleblower incentives will speak for itself and provide practical takeaways for attendees that will help drive continuous efforts to deter economic crime.”

Building on NWC’s recent publications and dovetailing with agenda, Lee and Calitri intend to share how corporate defense firms can still take advantage of whistleblower laws, emphasizing the unique position they have in representing whistleblowers. The delegation will also emphasize why rewards based transnational whistleblower laws are crucial to combatting corruption.

“We will be there to learn but also share our most effective practices,” Lee said. “The UK is navigating a new whistleblower rewards program, and we are proud to attend and offer support and perspective when it comes to stronger incentivization initiatives.”

Weighing the ‘Risks and Rewards’ on June 18

The education and insight will continue following the IBA Conference. On June 18, NWC and WhistleblowersUK will host a special event in the evening, “Managing Risks and Rewards: How Incentives Can Change the Whistleblower Landscape,” which will be held at the UK Parliament.

This session will examine how US-style whistleblower reward programs work, why they succeed, and how they can be adapted by governments around the world to combat fraud and corruption.

Calitri will be joined on the panel by:

  • WhistleblowersUK Chief Executive Georgina Halford-Hall
  • HM Revenue & Customs Operational Lead Anthony Rogers
  • HM Revenue & Customs Risk and Intelligence Service Senior Case Consultant Gary Forbes
  • House of Lords Member Baroness Susan Kramer

These speakers from legal, nonprofit, and government sectors will share firsthand perspectives on the ongoing effort to establish and implement rewards-based programs internationally and the practical lessons emerging along the way.

The discussion will spotlight emerging models such as HMRC’s Strengthened Reward Scheme, and explain what their momentum means for the future of global enforcement. As Rogers noted during an NWC webinar, “Understanding the UK’s Strengthened Whistleblower Reward Program,” the program mobilizes whistleblowers to report tax fraud.

“This scheme targets serious non-compliance involving large corporates, wealthy individuals, offshore and avoidance schemes,” Rogers said in February 2026, noting that the program is not designed for small tips or disgruntled complaints. He also reminded the audience that not all reports will become workable cases. “The criteria is designed to ensure that only credible and high-value intelligence is considered.”

How To Attend ‘Managing Risks and Rewards’ on June 18

Attendance to “Managing Risks and Rewards: How Incentives Can Change the Whistleblower Landscape” is by invitation, as capacity is limited. The event interest form is available here. If selected, NWC will reply to interested parties with a personal invitation.
